Soft Tissue - Hands-on Live Patient

Soft Tissue Hands-On Live Patient is a 3-day surgical course, held in our private clinic in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is instructed by an experienced periodontist from Venezuela. On the first day, there will be a half-day lecture covering crown lengthening, gingival recessions, connective tissue grafting technique, and free gingival graft technique. The remaining 2.5 days, you will perform soft tissue surgeries under the guidance of our highly trained faculty member. It will be two doctors assigned per chair. One doctor will perform a surgery while your partner assists and vice versa.

BECOME FAMILIAR WITH

• Manipulation of the non-tension full thickness mucoperiosteal flap
• Various sling sutures will be mastered for closure and flap support
• Full thickness flap elevation with coronally repositioned flap
• Soft tissue graft harvest and placement
• Decision making in material choice from Allograft and Growth Factors in Soft Tissue Grafts

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES>

• Discuss phlebotomy in relation to the healthcare setting; demonstrating skills and knowledge necessary to perform phlebotomy along with infection control
• Identify the anatomic structure and function of body systems related to phlebotomy; recognizing supplies and equipment
• Practice accepted procedures of transporting and collecting blood specimens
• Review PRP therapy and its growing acceptance in dentistry; identifying tools and centrifuge equipment
• Learn how to separate platelet-rich and platelet-poor blood
